Veracend

Which tool should I use to check my Shopify ad tracking?

Short answer

Start with the free official helpers: Meta Pixel Helper, Google Tag Assistant, TikTok Pixel Helper and Snap Pixel Helper show whether each pixel fires on a page. They can’t tell you whether the sales an ad platform reports match your real Shopify orders. For that, compare the two: Veracend does it from your store address and ad exports, with no login or app install. If you spend heavily across many channels and want attribution every day, an attribution platform fits better.

Five kinds of tool, and what each one answers

Ad platform test tools

Did a test order reach the ad platform, and was it counted once?

Examples
Meta Events Manager › Test events, Google Ads conversion diagnostics
Setup
Inside your ad account. You place a test order.
Cost
Free
Best for
Confirming a fix worked.

Sales vs ad report check

Do the sales Meta, Google Ads, TikTok and Snapchat report match your real Shopify orders, and what is causing the gap?

Examples
Veracend
Setup
Paste your store address; add the CSV exports you already have. No login to your accounts and no app.
Cost
Free store check; full audit $29 one-time
Best for
Small and mid-size stores who see ad numbers that don’t match Shopify and want to know why, once or after each change.

Server-side tracking apps

How do I send more complete purchase events to ad platforms despite browsers and ad blockers?

Examples
Elevar, Analyzify
Setup
Shopify app plus configuration, sometimes with help from the vendor.
Cost
Paid plans; see each vendor’s pricing
Best for
Stores that already know events are missing and want them sent from the server.

Attribution platforms

Which channel and campaign drove each sale, every day, across all channels?

Examples
Triple Whale, Northbeam, Polar Analytics
Setup
Connect your store and ad accounts; usually installs its own tracking.
Cost
Subscription; see each vendor’s pricing
Best for
Brands spending across several channels every month who want a daily attribution dashboard.

When Veracend isn’t the right tool

  • You want a live dashboard you check every morning. Veracend is a report you run when you need it, not a daily attribution tool.
  • You need events sent from your server to Meta or Google. Veracend tells you when events are missing or doubled, but it doesn’t send them. A server-side tracking app does.
  • Your store isn’t on Shopify or WooCommerce and doesn’t share its product list publicly. The free check stops there; the full audit still works from your exports.

Common questions

Is Meta Pixel Helper enough to know my tracking works?

It shows whether the pixel fires in your browser on the page you’re on. It can’t see events sent from Shopify’s server connection, checkout pages it can’t load, or whether Meta counts more purchases than you had orders. Use it for a quick look, then compare Meta’s purchases with your Shopify orders for the same days.

Do I need Triple Whale or another attribution platform?

Not to find out whether your tracking is broken. Attribution platforms are built for ongoing, multi-channel reporting and are priced as subscriptions. If your question is “why don’t my ad numbers match my orders?”, a one-off comparison answers it first.

Will a server-side tracking app fix Meta showing more sales than Shopify?

Not on its own. Server-side events help when purchases are missing. When Meta shows more purchases than you had, the usual causes are a pixel loading twice, a Purchase event outside checkout or the attribution window, and adding another source of events can make doubling worse until deduplication is set up.
